Prof. Vasilis Katos obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace in Greece, an MBA from Keele University in the UK and a PhD in Computer Science (network security and cryptography) from Aston University. He is a certified Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI). I have worked in the Industry as Information Security Consultant and served as an expert witness in Information Security for a criminal court in the UK and a misdemeanor court in Greece. My research falls in the area of digital forensics and incident response. He has participated in 2 FP7 and 3 nationally funded research projects and in a number of national and international cyberdefence exercises. He has over 100 publications in journals, book chapters and conference proceedings and serves as a referee on several reputable conferences and journals (for example, IEEE Communications Letters, Computers & Security, Information and Computer Security), has coordinated and delivered a number of workshops, both in an academic and a security professionals context. He is member of the editorial board of Computers & Security. In terms of recognition of my research, He has received keynote speech invitations for international conferences (indicatively, the 8th European Conference on Information Warfare and Security) and my research has been addressed by reputable magazines such as the New Scientist.
Asoc. Prof. Dr Mamoun Alazab is Associate Professor at CDU’s College of Engineering, IT and Environment. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the Federation University of Australia, School of Science, Information Technology and Engineering.
He is a cyber security researcher and practitioner with industry and academic experience.
Mamoun’s research is multidisciplinary and focuses on cyber security and digital forensics of computer systems, cybercrime detection and prevention and cyber terrorism and cyber warfare.
He has authored more than 100 research papers and has delivered many invited and keynote speeches—22 events in 2018 alone. He has convened and chaired more than 50 conferences and workshops.
Mamoun works closely with government and industry on many projects. Recipients include the Northern Territory Department of Information and Corporate Services, IBM, Trend Micro, the Australian Federal Police, the Australian Communications and Media Authority, Westpac, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Attorney-General’s Department.
Dr Mamoun Alazab is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Founder and Chair of the Northern Territory branch of the IEEE.
Dato Dr Norbik Bashah Idris is currently a Professor at Kulliyah of ICT in IIUM. He started his academic career in 1983 with UTM and has been attributed as one of the early pioneers of Cybersecurity in Malaysia.
In 1995 he led a team which won a strategic research grant from MOSTI to start the first major research work on Cryptography in Malaysia which produced a suite of indigenious cryptographic utilities. In 1998 Prof Norbik founded the first Real-time Software Engineering Centre of Excellence in Malaysia, where he collaborated with the University of Thales from Paris.
Throughout his career Prof Norbik has been a Keynote Speaker, Visiting Professor, Corporate Figure, Consultant & Advisor on Cybersecurity to various Organizations & Governments, both in Malaysia & international. He was nominee for 2007 Ernst & Young Best IT Entrepreneur, twice recipient of “Distinguished ISC2 Award winner for Asia-Pacific”, IDG Distinguished Chief Security Officer for Asia Pacific, winner of at least 7 Gold medals on Cybersecurity products & services, and holder of a few patents.
Prof Norbik’s latest interest is in synergizing cybersecurity & DLT Blockchain/Tangle) into Islamic Fintech products & services in the hope of contributing to the Maqasid Shariah.
Dr. Mohamad Nizam Kassim works as Specialist at Cyber Security Responsive Services Division, CyberSecurity Malaysia. He has a PhD in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Machine Learning and security certifications in network, web application and wireless penetration testing from SANS Institute, USA.
Prior to working with CyberSecurity Malaysia, he involved more than six years in the telecommunication industry in designing and implementing core-switched and packet-switched networks for GSM and 3G networks, analyzing and predicting GSM and 3G mobile network traffics forecasts, implementing core-switched network monitoring system and subscriber provisioning system. Then, he dedicated his time in wireless station tracking, triangulation techniques and mobile phone threats assessments projects that aim to improve investigation techniques for law enforcement agencies. He also involved in Cyber Security Awareness For Everyone (CyberSAFE) program that aims to raise security awareness among
Internet users in Malaysia since 2009. In 2011, he was selected by ISC2 USA and its Asian Advisory Board as one of the honourees of the Asia Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA) 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia for his contribution in CyberSAFE program.
His current research analytic projects are developing natural language processing algorithm to understand local context profiling and developing analytics platform for cyber threat intelligence profiling. Occasionally, he involves in delivering training for law enforcement agencies in information reconnaissance and profiling.
Dr Atif Ahmad is a visiting lecturer at FTSM, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Deputy Director of Cyber Security Center of Excellence in University of Melbourne, Australia.
He has led a cyber security research group in various areas; information system, business management, intelligent security and information warfare. He has published more than 90 cyber security articles and received AUD$3.94 million research grants. Besides, Dr Atif is an active cyber security consultant at WorleyParsons, Pinkerton and Sinclair Knight Merz. He has obtained professional certification from American Society for Industrial Security. He is also an Editor for International Journal of Computer & Security.
Col (R) Dato’ Ts. Dr. Husin Jazri PhD CISSP is a Senior Vice President (Cybersecurity) Serba Dinamik Group Berhad. He is a member of UNIMY Board of Governors and Chief Editor of eSecurity and Privacy Channel (ESPC), a converge digital platform providing cybersecurity and privacy services. Dato’ Dr Jazri was the founder and the first CEO of Cybersecurity Malaysia Berhad, and the Director of the National ICT Security and Emergency Response Centre (NISER), at MIMOS. He initiated many strategic projects in cybersecurity for Malaysia.
He has more than 30 years of blended cybersecurity and information security working experiences. Prof Jazri graduated with BSc in Engineering (Hartford, Connecticut, USA), Post-Graduate Diploma in System Analysis (UiTM, Malaysia), MSc (Distinction) in Information Security (Royal Holloway, Univ of London, UK), MBA from University Putra Malaysia and PhD Comp. Sc (Cybersecurity Thesis) from the National Defence University of Malaysia.
